Hey guys. How hard is it to change the captive bolts for the rear propshaft? Do I need to remove the handbrake drum and flange to get at them? 1 of mine is stripped of thread. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated Thanks in advance.

Ended up letting the wd40 do its stuff for 2 days due to family taking up all my time. Rear uj is now replaced and greased. Good I thought. Then I discovered a new problem. 1 of the captive bolts at the front end of the rear prop has threaded. Any one know how easy it is to replace the captive...

1998 300tdi auto. Egr delete, middle silence delete with a cherry bomb, running 33s. I can confirm it will do 60 it even once did 70 but that was a little scary and ridiculously loud.

Figured I'd tackle my dieing rear uj before it became more of a problem. Dropped the prop( super easy with the prop nut tool ) the front uj is fine as I thought but the rear is very stiff. After much wailing on the uj with a big hammer and drift it didn't even move a mm. It's now soaking in wd40...

Fitted a new water pump today and gave it a damn good flushing. Due to having to many kids I ran out of time so its full of water at the moment. Tomorrow I'll flush it again and and some antifreeze.

Is the d1 the same as a d2 in this respect? I can see there is a paper gasket at the join on mine where the leak is dripping from.

Doh! I have a similar leak on mine. Right where the axle meets the hub gubbins. Is it the stub axle? I learn as I go and its time to learn about this. My fresh clean oil is slowly dripping away.

Thought I'd drain the sedimenter and bleed the system today. Then checked the levels of oil in the dif which looked old and cruddy so did a quick oil change while I was at it. Think I'll run it for a bit then do it again to get more of the cruddy stuff out. Noticed I've got a swivel housing seal...

I changed my panhard rod bushes today. What a difference it has made. This has helped give me the drive to renew all the others now as they are still 24 year old originals.

I attacked my d1 with tiger seal. I have dry footwells again. Happy days.

Once again thanks for the advice everyone. One very wet back later it turned out to be the main earth strap. The heated seat was a god send to help dry me off on the way home.

I've had to abandon it for now. As my wife has a hospital appointment and I need to be home for the kids. I'll head back over later and fingers crossed get it going again. Thanks for the advice guys.

I'll give it ago. Cheers bud. The dash all lights up as bright as normal the glow plugs do there thing. Are you sure it's battery terminals or similar. I should probably mention that I had driven 20 minute journey then parked for 30 mins. Got back in and click.

As title. I turn the key dash lights up as it should but thats all that happens. Any advice. There is a click from the passenger foot well area.

Did my oil and filters today as it wasn't raining for once.

Tracing the water ingress is on my list of jobs. I have a feeling it is more than just the sun roof drains. As soon as time allows I'll play find the holes. It would be nice to get some form of sound deadening material back on the floor or working speakers to drown out the noise. All you hours...
