    P38A Replacing centre exhaust box

Hi, It's a while since I've posted on here...all has been well with the P38. Centre box is blowing so I today purchased a new one. It comes with flange at either end. Had a look under car and the flange for the adjoining pipes are in very poor condition. How do I change the flange on the front...

What RR shoud I go for ?

I thought the 3.6 and 4.4 tdv8's were good engines, what goes wrong with these?

    Classic - Project Scab

Bolt holding top and bottom of shock. I've got police spec springs, give a bit extra ride height without compromising the ride and handling, best of both worlds.

+1, although its the tdi for me.

    Please share your LPG experiences...

I like the P38, my dad has a '98 4.0 se which he's had 10 yrs, but I still prefer my classic. My classic maybe a bit rough around the edges but that doesn't bother me. There is just something about a classic which the P38 will never have, and no I don't mean rust!!

    Please share your LPG experiences...

Yep 34mpg, that's just running around with a bit of a run. Its on BF Goodrich mud terrain tyres as well. I'm sure its capable of high 30's on a long run. My friend has a 300tdi auto which does about 30mpg. I plan on fitting some sound deadening but on the whole I'm really happy with the...

    Please share your LPG experiences...

I've had my '92 Classic for 4 years. Originally a 3.9 V8 but changed it to a 200tdi last year. I did consider LPG but not really a fan. Was getting about 14 mpg out of the V8 and now get 34 mpg out of the tdi. Yes the tdi is noise but doesn't bother me, as for power, I actually like the torque...

    Service - what's needed?

UJ's have been greased every year, only does about 2,500 miles a year. Brake fluid changed couple of years ago as needed a new brake pipe for mot. Don't think the coolant has been changed for a few years. Just been pricing up the parts and oil, about £250, not including replacing the uj's...

    Service - what's needed?

Thanks for the reply, do you think the auto gearbox filter should be changed? Don't mind doing the oil but not sure about the filter.

    Service - what's needed?

My dad has a '98 4.0 SE. Had the car 10 years and it's been serviced every year by the land rover main dealer. It's only done 65k, costs about £300 to service but looking at the invoice they only change the oil, filter and air filter. Considering servicing it myself. What will a P38 of this...

    thinking of selling "snot"

Never get your money back. I've got a '92 classic 200 tdi, reckon I have about £3,000 in it, not worth that but it's completely sorted and never plan on selling it.

    thinking of selling "snot"

I'd say eBay is your best bet, probably about a grand.

Classic 200 tdi battery light on

Thanks, I'll check the earth. Presume if its the regulator it means a new alternator?
  14. rangie1998

Classic 200 tdi battery light on

Battery light came on while driving. Checked alternator and battery and both showing more than 14 v, but when checking feed from alternator to the car, presumably battery light, shows less than 8v. Is this normal?

Can you turn traction control on?

Ah well never mind. Just something to go wrong anyway!
  16. rangie1998

Can you turn traction control on?

Have read somewhere that the very early diesel and 4.0 didn't have TC. No light on dash to indicate TC.
  17. rangie1998

Can you turn traction control on?

I haveva 95 4.0 se, it doesn't have traction control as it's an early model. Will this be on the car and simply turned on using the bcem?

    Blend motor working again!

No diagnostic on it. I've left it now it works, not a big job getting to the left hand motor so if I have to change it shouldn't take too long.

    Blend motor working again!

Bought another blend motor on flee bay as passenger side only blowing cold. Took glovebox out and side panel off, removed blend motor then just put it back on to see if it would work and it does! Is it common for them to just become jammed and then be OK?

    Changing blend motor

I will probably cut the wires and just solder to new motor, sounds easier than removing more dash than I need to.
