I'd have to say you'd be better off with a 200 or 300 TDI. Fitted a 200 TDI in my 92 classic to replace the v8. Very happy with it and 30 mpg.

Hoping it's just rocker and not the cam, if it's the cam I know it could be a big job!

Sounds like its coming from under the rocker cover, no loss of water so hoping not a slipped liner.
