I've never seen any re-trim kits for these types of seats so maybe it's worth finding a used pair of the later seats and re-trimming those instead.

Have you got a photo of the seats and also what year is your Landy? I have re-trimmed seats in a 1989 Land Rover 90 and it was easy enough. I went with Masai 4X4 covers which looked great. The video I linked is really useful to follow step by step.

Yes, fingers crossed for you as these aren't too bad to repair/replace. There are loads of helpful videos on YouTube on how to identify the fault with a multimeter. The starter motor can be difficult to get to on tdi :D so good luck Let us know how you get on
