Mine is a HSE with 17" wheels. I have the same problem. Plumped for Pirelli Scorpion STR. They are badged as all season M+S.

    Which 17" Tyres?

I ordered the Pirellis. Normally next day delivery but with the weather might be here by next week! Then I've just got to save up for another set. There's plenty of tread on the now rears (soon to be front) but there is some cracking to the sidewalls. The spare has never been on. Shame...

    Which 17" Tyres?

Hi Inevitably its time for some new boots (spurred on after a spot of ice skating!) Ringing round it appears that everybody has the same idea and local suppliers can get hold of a limited range. The ones I have been offered are Federal (£72 fitted), Kumho KL17 (£88 fitted), Uniroyal Rallye...

    Rear Brake Problems

Hi Guys Thanks for the comments. They stripped it all down, cleaned greased etc. The adjusters were backed off one notch and its been fine since like Garfield's. It's been fine since.

    Rear Brake Problems

Hi Guys I have a 55 Plate TD4. It went in for an MOT on saturday and I asked them to have a look at the handbrake cos it was getting a bit stiff. Got car back, drove local on Saturday and everything fine. Went out sunday and on the way back noticed it was a bit sluggish but put it down to the...

Please help me decide on 05 Freelander

Is £6K the right kind of money for it? Seems a bit pricey to me. Petrols are much less desirable than diesel and therefore loose more money. From experience you can get as many problems on a low mileage engine as you can a high one. Mines a 55 HSE TD4. I had a 1.8 previously but much prefer the...

How to fit rigid parcel shelf to 3 dr Freelander

From memory the brackets fit behing the trim fixing clips (1/4 turn). There are then two screws that you just screw into the trip to stop the brackets moving. Hope this helps. Tony

    Help Ideas Please

Like ben says. Check the tyres. They should always be fitted in pairs and the newest (i.e biggest) to the back. Never fit new on the front and worn on the rear as this is a sure way to knack the IRD. For the record mine is tight when manouvering too any my VCU is o.k. as is every one I have ever...

    Have I mullered my clutch??

Mine doesn't like to push the tin tent backwards up any sort of slope. Reversing onto a pitch a few weeks ago and got "that" smell. Few days later a guy with a Sorrento and a smaller van pulled up next to us. His did the same which made me feel a whole lot better.

Air Con not engaging A/C clutch

Is it over gassed? Is there a high pressure switch on the system?

    Freelander air con

    Buying a freelander

If you go for a TD4 auto watch out for the car tax. It falls into a higher bracket than the manual un later models.

    TC and ABS problems.

Taking the prop off shouldn't make the lights come on. I ran mine without the propo for ages and it didn't make a difference to the lights.

    Why Tight on Full Lock?

Only the obvious ones like binding brakes or you left the handbrake on! You would not know if you had another problem unless the VCU is removed. I have been driving Freelanders for 11 years now and if it wasn't tight i'd be worried. To reduce the chances of prblems make sure you follow the basic...

    12s electrics advice

I dropped on a Landie Genuine 12s kit on ebay for £22. Did a great job but was a T*&t to fit. It is a pre wired loom that goes to battery and fuse box at the front and has traditional relays mounted behind boot panels. The instructions were good and it gave a proffesional job. I probarbly...

    Why Tight on Full Lock?

Hi Fritz Just because its tight on full lock doesn't mean the VCU has gone. Because the FL is permanent 4x4 the VCU is there to allow limited slip between front and back. When driving in a straight line all wheels rotate at the same speed - the vcu does virtually nothing - but on full lock all...
