    Need some advice

:welcome2:I'm on my second Freelander. The 1st was a 2000 X plate 1.8GS which had 95k on when i got rid of it. Had it from 40k no major faults ( still had the original exhaust!). I now have a 2005 TD4 HSE which I've had a year. The engines are very good. With the warranty I wouldn't worry...

Getting a wire into cabin from engine bay

I recently wired to secondary socket for towbar. The LR instructions were to loosen the fuse box on the RH of the engine and go through a grommet that is located lower down on the passenger side. If i remember rightly there is like a nipple on the grommet that you can cut off leaving a hole of...

    Worn tyres

Well put chaser. Going against manufacturers advice is not generally a good idea. New tyres to the back always!;)

    Towbars

Hi I have a HSE with parking sensors. I have a fixed bar. I bought a Dixon Bate one from ebay brand new with plug in single electrics for £100. Apparently Dixon Bate make the genuine Land Rover part which just happens to look identical to their own, suprise suprise. You will need a relay for...

Heated windscreen or FBH on HSE?

I have a 55 plate HSE. It has the ceramic type fitted. Its not too bad but I would prefer a proper heated screen. They must have been running out of bits of something cos mine hasn't even got a cig lighter socket in the back but my x plate 1.8GS did!!!! The heated seats are nice though!

    Sat Nav / Aerial problems

Hi I have a 55 plate HSE with the becker NAV system. Now and again it stops working. If I wiggle the aerial / base about a bit it works again. Has anybody else had this problem? Is the base faulty? Thanks in advance Tony

    Neewbie

Steve remove the prop front to back inc VCU. Quite easy. You will need some torx sockets for the front. You will have to do this if the VCU bearings are faulty anyway.. Car is fine to drive with prop removed. tony

Oil around joints in pipework for EGR

So would the overfill cause the oiling up of the pipework?
  11. tonyt37

    Neewbie

Steve sounds like a bearing somwhere other than the viscous coupling itself. You could try removing the propshaft initially and see if this cures it. If it does its likely to be either the prop itself or the bearings either side of the viscous coupling. If not it could be any number of...

Oil around joints in pipework for EGR

Hi All I was checking under the bonnet today and noticed an increasing amount of oil around the connections from the rubber hoses to the plastic bit at the front of the engine (TD4), particularly on the bit where the sensor is mounted. I have checked the oil on numerous occasions since buying...

    driveshaft cv gaiter

I had a generic gator fitted against the advice of another mechanic. They fitted it with proper metal clips and degreased the wide part of the joint. They packed the inside of the boot with grease. A proper job! It lasted about 10 miles before i heard it flapping under the car. They just won't...

    ISO adaptor ?

I recently changed the head unit in my 2000 X (2001 MY) for a Kenwood unit and it went straight in. No extra wires needed. I couldn't believe it. Nothing's that easy with a Freelander. Obviously wheel controls don't work now but i never remembered to use them anyway

    Now I need help!

Chaser. I asked a similar question as I wasn't sure about low side pressure. Mine has a slow leak and needs topping up annually. It stops working when the pressures too low. Low pressure side can be anything between 45 and about 80PSI with the compressor running and 180 on the high side. The...

    What a tow!

Cheers Guys. I found one on e-bay for £50. Is that about right?

    What a tow!

Freelance thanks for you reply. The earth connection should be sound. Its a brand new socket (plug-in) type and seems to work o.k. with trailer board. Yes if the spare was removed it would work fine as the handle could be raised fully.
