    Change VCU bearings

Cheers to all of you. Sorted, it was easier than expected, same with bearings. Used the bolt to push it in place. Now I will fit new bushing for the diff and then put everything back again!!

    Change VCU bearings

Hi, Going quite well but I have a question. unfortunately I didn’t press one of the “metal shields” back long enough so it is very tight to the bearing. I can rotate by hand so I guess it doesn’t matter? better to ask before everything is back on the car....

    Change VCU bearings

Interesting, I had the same plan but went for buying new ones. How do change the bearings, isn't there a risk that they will slide sideways? /Chris

    Change VCU bearings

Hello, Thank you all for your help and advices. Unfortunately bell didn’t have the bearing in stock so I purchased separately. Will fit GKN with bearings from FAG. After a long frustrating work week I will have no problem to hit that prop hard enough . I will let you know how it goes.

    Change VCU bearings

Hi, Thank you for your feedback, Great then it is easy to mount the new bearings. I was afraid it was a very tight fit and I don’t have a press to do it. I checked the VCU (57 seconds, 5kg 1.2m) so I ordered a reconditioned one from Bells I will measure the time with the “new” one and post...

    Freelander 1 Temperature sensors

Hi, I agree that Android gives more freedom to their users, for good and for bad. In my case I have only seen the error when the car hasn't had the ignition on for a few minutes. This makes to suspect there is something with a capacitor in the controller. It could still be something with the...

    Freelander 1 Temperature sensors

Hi, I agree, but as long as I don't use it as OBD reader it is user friendly. I saw another thread that you dissected a fan controller, are they overly complicated? My cooling system seems to work but I get this P0480 error that I like to get rid of. They run on low speed when I have the AC and...

    Freelander 1 Temperature sensors

Hi, Thank you very much for your help. You're right, the values are not correct, I inserted a thin thermocouple in the house going from engine to radiator and it is almost spot on to the lower value. When I use generic EOBD I get correct values for coolant and air temperature, I will send an...

    Freelander 1 Temperature sensors

Hi I'm a new member and a Freelander for the last few days and have a couple of questions about sensors on a Freelander 1 -04. I scanned it with a OBD reader I got an error message P0480 and some temperature values I don't understand. I left the car over night so expected all reading to be...

    New member/Freelander owner

Hi, Just like to introduce myself. I just bought a Freelander 1 -04 1.8 and live in Sweden. I own a Triumph Spitfire for years so used to english cars and their mechanics. With this Freelander I realised the challenges introduced with computers and electronics.... Cheers, Christopher
