    cant see a prob with tubing it and using as a spare or a road tyre so long as it's balanced properly if anything I would prefer tubes as they less likely to blowout when off roading.

    Is this MPG any good ?

    av works out around 21-22 mpg assuming the td5 has the same size tank as a 200 tdi (88 ltr) so not bad really me thinks with the hauling you did. My 200tdi averages 30 mpg not towing anything and probs be down to 25mpg with that sort of load.

    you'd need a heater timed relay or as i did with a petrol to diesel peugeot 205 conversion a relay and a switch stuffed in the dash with a sign reading "press for 10 seconds before attempting to start" :D

    my 200 just turned 225000 original engine and box. 200 tdi is apparently good for around 300000 with regular servicing.

    my disco is the cheapest to run car ive had for a while even more than my astra van i had before it disco £200 fully comp,astra £400 fully comp. bits cost nowt. Just as good for laning medium off road use as defender only advantage i can see with the defender is when the going gets really hilly...

    I always use etch primer on alloy panels normal primers tend to flake off. as above use good ventilation/extraction as it contains amongst over things cyanide
