hi brian 47 thanks for reply. right i tgook out the reciever in front of sunroof had it in my house near radiator for 2 days didnt do nothing when refitted. the key fob worked fine then when rained it wouldnt uinlock the doors on the discovery, but when it went sunny again the keys worked fine...

thanks for your help.. battery is new so its not that, and when its bone dry sunny for a solid week the key starts working again. will try your key process tomorrow tho thanks
