cheers zeaphod. My VIN is 25. Im just gonna order the Connical and hope its the right one. BTW what parts book do you have?
  2. stuthegeordie

    Identify the part.

It has a welded olive with a coupler to accept the 3 studs from the manifold as per the 4th picture. That would make it a conical bore manifold right
  3. stuthegeordie

    Identify the part.

I dont exactly know the difference. If it refers to the bore hole that joins the exhaust, it is tapered to accept the exhaust coupler. other than that I dont see any parallel sides anywhere the casting is pretty poor :-)

    Identify the part.

Ran this post in the Series section so apologies if you've seen it before. I'm having trouble identifying which type of exhaust manifold I need to replace my cracked one? It's off a 19886 110 defender 2.5 petrol. 4 piece exhaust.

    Series Exhaust Manifold

Its a webber carb, I have a pop from the exhaust when running so checked for leaks and found a crack around one of the manifold to exhaust studs. I should get some pictures.

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Think I've finally figured it out!! Found a leak at the joint at exhaust end piece, fixed it thinking all was well. Of course not, further investigation and I discover a crack in the exhaust manifold around the stud. All this due to running out of fuel or a massive coincidence?

    Annual Tax

So what about a car before 2001 above 1549cc ? Corbyn? From the Sooty show :-)

    Annual Tax

How much do you recon an 86 Defender 110 with 2.5 petrol motor would cost to tax in the UK? Cheers in advance

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Got a chance to look at the Landy. New plugs and rotar arm have made no effect and the accel pump diaphram looks ok. Air filter is good and it's getting a good jet of fuel. Annoying cos she was running mighty fine prior.

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Wimblowdriver Good call on the plugs .They need changing anyway. :)

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

2.5 petrol No just replaced the tank to get it through MOT, lines were replaced a couple of years back by PO. It ran like a dream prior to running out of fuel so the impact of it running out has had some impact somehow.

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Thanks for the response. Yeah it ran out, its a new tank so I doubt its crud in the filter. It just burbles away, popping and farting. Im thinking theres air in the system somewhwere.

Engine backfire after running out of petrol

Sender gauge is apparently innacurate resulting in running out of petrol today, put new fuel in and it now runs rough, loads of small backfires, any idea? Cheers in advance
