Yes I know, The VIN plate number is the same as when it was first registered in 1990. So i'm confused on that one, other than I recently spoke to many LD owners at a show and some mentioned wrong details on VIN plates. Regards, Paul

Hi, to all the wonderful Land Rover oracles out there. How do I find information on my MOD S3? I have just found out via a BMM -Heritage Certificate (see pic) that my S3 88’ (see pic) , was acquired by the MOD on the 22/09/1980. Unfortunately, it does not have an ERM plate, it has the holes...

Yes I’m starting to go round in circles. I have a 1972 rear diff, 1979 front diff, no chassis number (replaced I think), V5 and VIN number which states my ’88 is a ‘109, V5 stating manufacture date as just 1980, V5 stating first registered in the UK as 19-03-1990 and with a recon -1993 - 951xx...

I suppose so. I have paid for the british motor museum - Heritage Certificate and see what that digs up!!

Unfortunately, the VIN number is not in the spreadsheets. So not MOD. So for 10 years pre V5 registration? Thanks for your assistance.

Many many thanks for this, I take it you have trodden a road similar to this yourself. I went to a LR show yesterday – The classic land rover gathering. Found out there were many chassis without serial numbers, so not so confused about that one now.

The engine thats in, is an MOD Lightweight (951XXXX), reconed in 1993 and fitted to mine not long after. Is there just one place the MOD would have fitted the - ERM on a series, as there are 4 small holes in the bulkhead about 100mm apart, like they were the corner fixings fror something light.

Many thanks for the reply. I have another anomaly. I understand that the chassis number is located on the front spring hanger. I have attached a photo of my hanger (the other side is the same), which looks like there isn’t one and it hasn’t been removed, could it be anywhere else. Kind regards...

Ah! not checked the ratios yet, although he's screaming at 50mph. Would the diffs have any other identification on them to show range rover diffs?
