this is pic of one with long tube i just bought off a 200tdi disco. the one on my landy does not have the stick.
maybe they are both 200tdi and use same filter?

evening all.
i have two in front of me.
1. one has a long tube sticking down the length of the filter. it also has an electric plug on one of the fuel pipe /banjo / bolt joint thingy.
2. the other has no tube and no electric plug.
i bought a filter for no2 and the guy said 'no tube...
its normal just to steam clean then waxoyl. the waxoyl kills rust anyway. could always do it yourself :-) my local 4x4 chap charges from £125 dependant on condition to start with for it to give you an idea.

okay. good news, few phone calls and i picked up another turbo with manifold etc. what ever you do DO NOT cut the fat oil return pipe! the are dealer only and cost £85! luckily my new turbo came with that pipe. cost £80, but at least it will work.
sorry guys. 200tdi. the top one is the 'new one'. heres a photo of the outlet. there was probably quarter of a mug of oil in the intercooler. my mind is going towards the breather now as it did pour with oil when i disconnected it!
either way i am going to refit the oily one as the other one...
how ****ed off am i?! new one has turned up and its in worse condition than my old one! the blades are grooved on the edge. however i think oil was transfering across on the old one. or could oil get into there some other way? like through the breather
i can't afford to buy another turbo so...
right gang. as said before i think my turbo was passing oil into the air intake system. if i grab the fan it wobbled around a fair bit. i bought a s/h one and although not as bad it does wobble a bit. he said it ran fine when he used it.
so should it wobble maybe .5mm?
also how can i check...
a friend rang me up. she needed a new wheel bearing. the guy quoted £150 to do it and said while it is apart he should do the other side as it all has to come apart anyway. £300 for the lot.
strange that as it is on an astra fornt suspension where the axles are entirely independant! he was...
well you lot are no good! a whole hour at 22.30 and no one responded! anyway got a s/h one for £60 posted which i think is fair. replacing all the fudged together intercooler pipes too with proper silicone and aluminium tubing so hopefully it will be ok from now on.
just been outside and wiggled the blades in the turbo and it is rather wobbly! so i guess that means new turbo? how much should i expect to pay for one s/h? cheers

was on the m/way and the landy just got slower and slower and slower, lots of black smoke. so pulled over.
doh! so called RAC. when you rev it all the intercooler pipes contract and were blocking the air flow.
took top tube off and ran it home...
