Discovery Rust - Boot, Sills and Wings

OK so this evening a bit of a story unfolds, which was somewhat expected...... A while back I replaced the rear diff and pinion assembly as the inn pinion bearing gave up the ghost. At that time I looked at the front diff and noticed that the play in the pinion bearing was also more than...

    Discreet winch mounting

Cool idea plus the standard bumper has plenty of room behind it to reinforce it with steel

    Discreet winch mounting

Thanks for the linky..... The thread comes up on several searches now lol.... The winch install has worked really well and it's also protected the radiator from below so loose branches etc just can't get to it. The bumper has worked well too and is very strong. In real world. Terms it's...

    disco/rangie props

Scrappies will only sell the whole pinion carrier as its useless in bits to them. You cagey new pinion and crown wheels for about £180 IIRC. Surely if your pinion is knackered then the crown wheel wants replacing anyway.....

Watching this space!!!!! Nice tip on the grease. I may have to strip mine down again to do this now. Don't now what line speed mine is but it is slow, my mates is really fast and takes no time at all before you're hawking him out. Me, I have time for a ****e and make dinner reservations...

Interesting about the winch, bet its the 8275 jobby..... Gearbox is easy enough underneath, I bet you won't even have to jack it up as I can do mine without. Plenty of pics.........as usual lol

    Discovery write off!

A vosa inspection is just to make sure that the identity of the car is the same and not a ringer, plus that all repairs have been done safely. No filler where metal should be. It's easy and shouldn't be of any concern if the damage is minimal.

how to shorten the front of a disco 1

Top man for doing it yourself. It's all too easy to farm it off to others but you just don't get the satisfaction do you? I look forward to the pictures and the thread when you get cracking. Good luck

how to shorten the front of a disco 1

I don't want to be rude mate as I'm all for helping, but if you can't work it out its too much for you. The slam panel and body mounts only need moving a few inches and the inner wings just get shortened with the wings cut to suit. The issues come when you have to fit a front winch and an...

how to shorten the front of a disco 1

I can't see your photo but here's how it looks and here's the it to make Here's the cut If you can't work the rest out I wouldn't go near it as you'll lose yourself. You need to move the body mounts and whole front end assembly as one. Lift the body two inches and you won't need it anyhow...

    Trailer - challenge truck build

To my limited knowledge of alrc specs the preferred method that I would use is the min 5"x5" plate secured to similar welded over outrigger which is boxed in. If you can get through scrutineering using the sleeved method then yes, for you it would be neater. Also remember that the only holes...
