Mack 5's are by good wheels and as they are an open design they do work well at keeping clean. My mate has the copies and at £95 each are better value. However both the copies and the modular steel wheels have a design floor in as much as the lip on them forces debris into the tyre bead...

The sets are around that price and much more in many cases. The outside has a bead locker only because you just don't get the lateral forces at the same level on the inside of the tyre. Self cleaning is an interesting problem that I will look at today as see what can be done although I...

Yep, but didn't really like the idea. Sticky stuff over the rims and a nightmare to get the tyre off if in the field.

Yeah I see where you're coming from, however anything stuck in the rim and left there, may eventually puncture the inner tube. But I agree thats one idea

How would that give more grip (by running less Pressure) and stop the crap getting inbetween the rim and tyre?

So this week I have been looking at some clearing my task list which is littered with odds and sods. One of which I was inspired to do following, Getting stuck up a slope in the snow getting crap inbetween my rim and tyre meaning it deflates not having diff lockers so i need more traction...

Front cv has gone I would have thought. Clicking would be from the bearings in the case being loose. If it isn't this then half shaft but normally half shafts go when you are actually putting the transmission under a lot of stress. CVs go through wear.
