Hi guys, I was thinking of replacing my HG myself :eek: How hard a job is it? Is there anything i need to make sure i do? Do i need to replace all the bolt with new ones when refitting? Is there anything else i should look at replacing/servicing while it s apart? Rockers etc...

that really is the easiest method.. get a long screwdriver aswell and some wd40 as the screw can get really tight and you might strip the head. it took me 6 hours but i was taking my time and had to go to the local hardware store a couple of times.

RAC cover worked for me. I had a small break down on the E17 in France. I used a SOS phone on the motorway and called the RAC. I was covered for the towing charge and just had to pay €70 for the mech time and part. bloody worth the 70 quid RAC charge !!! :D

more of an update. had the front drivers wheel off at the weekend as that is where the noise is coming from. brakes are all good lots of life in them. disks are in perfect condition as they were replaced last year by the previous owner (receipts to prove it). my mech had greased the prop and...

well new one turned up.....looks in great condition. no damage to any of the fins etc. im going to hook it up to a water hose pipe in the garden and test for flow and blockages . bloody good service from them. they overnighted it to me!!!

another update. no leaks (for now) still a pressurised big hose at the top of the rad. after i let it cool i opened the expansion cap and heard a rush of water and a gurgling sound. im thinking air bubble or blocked rad. ???

update update ive caught the bugger while it was dripping. i have found a drip from the left hand rocker cover corner nearest the steering wheel. would this indicate a head gasket problem? I don't have any of the other usual signs of head gasket failure (mayo in the oil and coolant etc.)...

now that would be nice but they want me to send the 1st one back......never mind. i did also ask for a heater matrix a massive box turned up i unpacked it and thought this isnt the little shiney matrix ists big and black and plasticy... they had sent me the whole blower unit with the matrix...

J ive spoken to them and they are going to send out a replacement to be with me by friday. not bad service.

exactly. how do you test a radiator without installing it in the engine? can i attach hose at one end and see if the flow is ok?? or is there another test i can run?
