It sounds very good but im afraid i not much good with things like that, how much you think if i took it to a Landrover specialist and asked him to take a look and perhaps do the things you suggest.

It's a standard Landrover towing fitting. (triangular shape) - the pad indicator is shower them on full with no wear at all.

Well the caravan is a 2008 model and the pads are almost brand new... could be i guess...
