OK, what the garage meant was the light on the display never worked to show S or M when selected. As it turns out the S and M (sounds weird) does light up but is very dim to see in good light. So the sport mode works, but how to make the display lamp brighter?

the diagnostic picked up exactly what Ratty suggested, this is not in the process of being fixed with an updated replacement loom. How do you close a thread, thanks all

I have tried moving the low/high selector as descibed above, but this had no affect. As the disco is under 6 month warrenttee it went back for them to sort it out. Called the guy today and he told me that it 'never worked'. Should the dealer have made that clear when I brought it? I need...

It would appear then that this is not working, when pressed no light comes on the panel and there is no difference in the power:gear range. Would we need to assume that this is not working, if so do any of you kind people know where the fault may rest...

On my Disco 11 TD5 GS automatic it has a mode button at the back of the gear selector, mine does not work when pressed to change to sport or manual. Is this a standard fitting that should work or an optional extra but the buttons still there anyway, the oweners manual does not list it as 'if...
