well thats ok if you know what you are doing. actually the rocker arm is what i meant this is where all the tapping noise is ( on one side ), if the camshaft is worn like old matie said would there be any noise to listen out for because other than the noise under the rocker cover it really...

could it be that valves need replacing as oppose to camshaft

so if they are duff shoulnt the light be on now???? or is it just the electrical side that causes the light?

isnt there specialist tools involved and then theres the timing and stuff. what would i have to take to bits.

getting back to the sensors, if i disconnect the current ones, would there be a sign if thet where working or not. i am thinking that if they are working i can get my dosh back on the new ones i have purchased

won't it show uo on testbook if it was in limp mode and if the camshafts are knackered, i am wondering if that jason bloke would have noticed. after all he was landrover mechanic of the year in 2006? he took it for a spin and said that all he could find up with it was slight front diff...

i will put the sensors on tomorrow and everything will be sorted.:der::der::der: if not i will fill it up with petrol and drive the f,in thing off cromer cliffs...

he mentioned that, i was going down the route of borrowing an air flow sensor but he said the camshaft will be well worn if its done 134k and theres the problem. he said lambda sensors are sending the messages but the car is probably in limp mode and thats why i get 8mpg, and in reality it...

£50 to test run and confirm and you were right he can talk. he can sell me a camshaft set or kit for £200 or he offered £800 for the car so he can break and sell on ebay. well i have had the car for 3 weeks and so far the bill stands at £2600. what a sucker i have been.

oh dear the dream is over. just been off the phone to rpi engineering and he is sure that the top end needs overhauling especially with the milage its done. he also said that the air flow sensors do not fail on the early models and that by changing the lambda sensors will make no differance...

ok thats have another go at trying to explain. i disconected the maf sensor and it was really difficult to start. once started it was eratic idling and absolutely stunk of petrol and fumes. it was impossible to drive it just stalled. as soon as i reconnected the maf it started ok but did not...

which is the air bypass hole. i had it all to bits yesterday and gave it a good clean but there wasnt much to clean really? whats that sensor on the airbox itself?

it is not excessivly noisy, just on one side there is a bit. as regards to the idle it ticks over lovely at 750

just bought a pair of lambada sensors for £75. they should be here tomorrow. they look quite simple to fit or will there be some hidden surprises. the guy at the garage said they look corroded on.
