oh, OK; but surely it's meant to be blanked off or something?

small hole on RHS of airbox

Found a small (6-7mm?) neat round hole on right hand vertical side of airbox. Sort of in centre of where air filter sits (internally). It's empty and 'fluttering' on tick-over. Can't be right surely? Any thoughts? Thanks, R PS FL1 TD4, 2004, 92K km.

    Thinking of buying a TD4

Freelander excellent choice – one of the best for snow. Not too good at serious off-road, but that’s what the Discos/ Defenders etc are for. Also there was a good upgrade in 2004 (exterior, interior, +misc). Engine to go for is TD4 and go for a high version like HSE to get leather...

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

Well that lasted all of about a week. Stuttering, yellow light and no power all over again. So went off and bought the fuel pump (£200 downtown Genva L/R !), detached pump assembly, slotted it all in, and re-assembled everything - getting easier and quicker at this lark. Works like a dream...

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

So at last got round to changing fuel filter, and it works !! No more yellow light and power problem at 3,000 rpm. Other newbies might like to know that under the rear wheel arch there are 2 x 10mm bolts holding the entire fuel pump/ filter assembly on to the chassis. Remove some of the...

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

So, as I had already bought the new type BMW oil breather a while back, I replaced that; then - blew out the air filter with compressed air (for other newbies such as myself, the air filter is located in the plastic housing underneath the oil breather); - trimmed back most of the tubes on the...

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

Great ideas, thanks. Should have worked that logic out myself in fact. Will check the arm (is that easy?) and the other vents (didn't know ther were so many). And change the filters one by one to try and get more quantitive results and feedback. Thanks R

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

Have noticed that the fuel pump comes on with the ignition key and pumps for a good minute or more before cutting out (if I don't start the engine). And it makes a noise, which of course it might have made before and I hadn't noticed. Is all that normal? Will change fuel filter in rear wheel...

Power problem 3000rpm - yes I've changed solenoid

2004 TD4 HSE 90,000 km. Saw the excellent sticky in fact before I had the power problem, so changed solenoid with relish - didn't even bother with a test drive. However problem's still there! Around 3,000 rpm, stutter like fuel starvation and yellow light comes on (right hand with exclamation...

    Got a slight dripping!!!

Could just be condensation off the air con. If you set dial to screen, or screen and feet, the air con will come on automatically (above 8 degrees ambient or something) without dash-light showing (see owners manual). When you pull into garage and turn off, residual water/ condesation will drip...

Are 17" and 16" alloys interchangeable?

Many thnaks for that info. I think I've seen those particular 5-branch 16" alloys on loads of Freelanders, in fact I thought it was the standard fit since conception, so they must be pre-brake change. Did they just change the rear drums, or was it front the calipers as well? Either way, it seems...

Are 17" and 16" alloys interchangeable?

Can I swap my standard 6-branch 17" alloys for 5-branch 16" (L/R) alloys in order to have a second set for snow tyres? 16" gives a better, cheaper choice range, and 2 sets are quite normal out here in the Alps. Freelander TD4 HSE 2004. Pictures below. Thanks in advance, R 17" standard...

    hi & bonjour

Did keep it ! Think I might bury it in the garden ultimately. Still going like stink though - Controle Technique (MOT) in Feb 2011 might finish it off due to corrosion, we'll see. On Freelander, got that funny rear clunk, finish off trailer wiring, and rear window cables (regulator?) to sort...

    hi & bonjour

Hi, new to the forum, was over at 205gtidrivers.com, but now got Freelander TD4 2004 - in principle to replace 205 (but still got it), and to get through the snow. Things starting to fall off it and break at about the same rate as 205 (sunroof and one window already!), but also adding things to...
