    diesel electric

Been trying to work out why gearboxes and driveshafts and diffs are still used, especially on 4x4s, with the addition of a transfer gearbox and driveshafts at both ends. Whats wrong with an engine mated to an electric generator feeding two or four electric motors at the wheels, So much simpler...

    srs light

It would be cheaper to cycle everywhere, but the bikes been stuck in the shed for eighteen months. If the airbag is fitted, I,d prefer it to work. Looks like another visit to landrover then.

    srs light

The srs light stays on now due to the rotary coupling/pulled fuse fault. Have purchased a new rotary coupling for megadosh. Will be fitting it shortly. Have been told that the fault is "stored" even if the problem is rectified, and will need to be cleared by landrover dignostic setup. True or...

    srs light

Srs light came on a couple of weeks ago. I pulled the fuse to stop it going off unexpectedly. Took it to an independent LR specialist, turned out to be the rotary coupler at fault, quoted £300 to £600 to repair, A lot to fork out for a 94 disco. Tempted to pull the fuse and leave it at that.

    069 battery

Its the general reference point for battery specs, The more amp hrs specified means a bigger more powerfull battery with a higher cca rating too. [ hopefully]. The lucas im using has about 500cca, so the 750 cca quoted on here for the bigger battery is quite an improvement.

If I was to mark my welding from an A to a D, I would give myself a D+ as I got a nice seam going on one edge of a plate. Thanks for all your constructive comments, they are much appreciated.

Looks like the arc will be coming out of the shed after all, bank account is empty, sills are easily accessible, tank is straight forward to remove, I have plenty of experience welding cars with the arc going back over 20 years.Grind down to nice shiny steel with 1.6 rods should do the trick...

    Passed the mot, just.

Advised on three areas of corrosion underneath. Both inner sills at the rear, and the body support bracket on the rear offside. Looks like that bracket is spot welded on, and its gone between the spots, easy to get at except its near the fuel tank. The boot floor is looking a a bit iffy from...
