Very good point! it's only 27 quid anyway. Second hand unknown condition diff is around 50 quid from a breakers near me but then that's a lot more work to do than just changing the flange..

Not sure about cleaning but I had it in my MR2 (previous car) and it was pretty hard wearing, not sure how it would cope with mud though. If it's on headlining I wouldn't see an issue because it's likely away from most of the high impact areas
