Today I removed the front Propshaft from my Discovery 2 TD5, after whining and chirping noises. I had thought of UJ's on drive shafts but replaced those last year. The front UJ on prop, I thought, required replacing as movement found in MOT (advisory-last month). When removed and began the process of pushing failed bearing out, the whole thing fell apart!!!How did it stay together? Searching for new/recovered replacement and noted the ridiculous prices some places are charging (for the same part). Best price (new) that I've seen is Island4x4 at £140.00 +VAT (free delivery). That's for part TVB000100. My Disco ends A296579. So if your prop takes a dive, look to Island4x4, they're pretty good on price.
Also did oil seal on front drivers side axle. Obviously had to strip down the whole brake/disc and drive shaft set up to get to it.
Just changed the tyres too, to new 5 x 265R 70 16 General Grabbers (got em free from a Shogun). Cost me £100 to swap em over though! But can't grumble.
