We tried to dig out the potting on a valve driver and basically just decided its easier to design and build one from scratch.

On all the ones I have seen that have failed, it was just the big electrolytic, about an hour to replace.
I wonder how your mods will affect the vehicle insurance as they have no type approval.

I have a couple that definitely have issues with solder joints on the wires into the PCB, although that could be PCB track issues. Was planning to replace the capacitor at same time.

Will try your heat trick (but not too much heat) !!

I dont know about other countries but in South Africa as long as the car exists and its the same car as what you told them, the insurance companies dont want to know anything else about it. The government feels the same way.

Bit different in the UK & Europe. anything that could affect the vehicle has to be declared to the insurance and in some cases a check at a government test centre is required.

So just abit of an update.
We tested the PCB with the EAS controller tonight. The two seem to work together quite well. The PCB sends a value and the EAS controller reads it correctly. The EAS controller doesnt throw any fault codes either.

So im going to be permanently fitting the new PCB to my P38 next week monday. Im abit nervous about cutting into my wiring harness so hopefully all goes well
