Bought her AA breakdown cover. In the vain hope I won't use it this year. 🤣🤣 The RAC called me a couple of days ago to ask me if I would be renewing this year. I wonder if he was surprised at the " hell no!" response 🤣 I decided to see which was cheaper, AA 33% discount for new member, or AA 40% discount for MoD. Seems 33% discount gets you a cheaper price than a 40% discount. I wonder if Rachel worked that out for them 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣

Also unplugged & tested blend & distrib motors using 9V battery & multimeter on the pots via the 16-pin connector. All seem to be working ok with smooth resistance change through the adjustment. But, when plugged back into the HEVAC, I get intermittent faults & damn book symbol.

So getting new connector ready with soldered contacts, and will splice into the wiring.

More an observation really...

Like Datatek I tend to keep my EAS locked. Unlike D I have it locked at Standard height as I tow a lot and have Arnott 3 springs. It appears the only setting which doesn't get overridden at sone speed is Highway / Motorway height. All other reduced the height once a certain limit is reached. For Wading / Extended it is the same speed as normal but for Standard it is, er, above the legal limit in the UK ... allegedly!

I have to keep mine at motorway height for towing or the little trailer runs on 2 of it's 4 wheels. Likewise at standard height, the caravan is nose up, not good for stability.

Well the car has been up on the ramp at the garage. Reckons the steering rack and track rods are fine!
The only movement they can find on the front is drivers control arm bush.. which is the only one I've not replaced so that's no surprise.
So why does the left front clunk over bumps and the right front didn't? Weird!

In other news, one of the rear bushes is knackered and the garage won't touch that.. need special tools apparently

Went to my local JLR today to collect the tow bar recall parts for the good lady's Discovery 4. Very pleased to see that A) they've finished the building work on the new showroom, but more importantly B) the parking spaces have actually been designed for their vehicles to comfortably fit in although there was an Audi TT in there that had managed to overshoot the bay and park with the nose on the walkway, the good news is that you can get another TT behind it and fill the bay.

I've always said that the L322 is a dainty girl with proportions that are just right. And been laughed at when I have said it. This photo proves the point. Those other things look like they have the face of a proboscis monkey 🐵👃🤣

Oh and before anyone starts. Yes I would take one of them if given. I would then sell it and spend all the money on the Golden Girl making sure every wire, fuse, panel and part was the best it could be.

A new Rangie parked by my P38A today. It is a big beastie. I was surprised how long it is.

every time I look out of the window and see my old L322 parked on my neighbors drive opposite I wonder if I've done the right thing getting the L405 and then I put my foot down 🤣, and the comfort. I thought the L322 was good but even the missus likes it. It does seem to have some issues though like restricted performance which clears with an engine off and on, and today it stalled on me 3 times, once at the lights and twice reversing onto my drive. Never had that with the trusty l322. Ah well it will get added to the list for the dealer tomorrow.

On another note does this look like normal charging for these new fandagled alternators with the engine constantly running while stuck in traffic please?

Took my 4.2 sc on a 6 hour round round trip from Rochdale to Duxford air museum Cambs, drove great there and back, even kept the mother in law happy! Took about £95 fuel with average of around 24-26mpg.
Also for anyone not been Duxford is definitely worth visiting- we’ve been twice and saw things now that we missed before and the sound of a spitfire taking off and low passes is incredible.
