Yes thanks for heads up on flushing guys, just dropped it twice was much cleaner second time, pretty sure if overheat re-emerges a cloned tcm is next port of call,
Gear changes are almost undetectable only by watching rev counter, still has a slight niggling vibration somewhere, could be a tyre out of balance or shape in rear or prop centre will see, ride quality is no match for D3 or D4 though
Never had such luxury in a vehicle in my 61 years
Perfect for a trip to Bezier area at some point sorry for late answer, thanks for advice and all the best

Long may it continue mate that it behaves 🙏

also really impressed with the D3 gearbox in how smooth it changes and assume the ZF 9 x speed is even nicer

Funny enough heard that in comparison between coils and air suspension in how smooth the air system is, can only imagine what the combination of the air and ZF 8 x speed is in a D5

Of course if it misbehaves just give it the basil fawlty treatment 1-2-3 🤣

Yes mate air suspension and bigger sidewalls better for Norfolk, can Greenlane round here going to a friends house or asda Lol
Don't use that method anymore ruined paint, tea and a sit down nowadays
Sport wasn't too bad responded to a bit of love and attention, slightly confusing at times
Good diagnostic is the key would be lost without topdon, thanks guys all the best

U saying that Does remind me some years back of idiots going well off the greenlaning routes by driving right across a farmers cornfield , best bit they got stuck and had to ask the farmer to pull them out , don’t know if they got there vehicles back without any damage 🤣

Must confess it’s been a dream of my daughter for me to take her greenlaning and can imagine there being some lovely trails where u are

Indeed mate regarding sidewall sizes , pet peeve when I see in particular rrs that have low profiles fitted , along with of course body kits that would get pulled off going over a speed r strict ion let alone some off roading

Amen to that about diagnostic scanners , , bet the topdon has paid for itself already mate , , sad that many scanners want software updates every year after the first 1-2 x years , my autel ran out last year and as I only work on older landies think I’ll only update it every few years to keep it ticking over

Great the more capable tablet style scanners are available to allow more access for people wishing to work on there own motors , well the older ones that is seeing there becoming more and. more complicated or some dealer only

Saying that some of the tablets that have oscilloscopes built in are silly money or around 2-3k , but of course considerably cheaper than ones in garages that I was once told in excess of 25k

See hantek or pico do some lovely standalone oscilloscopes for 100 upwards , hear the pico are supposed to be very good that have the automobile presets built in

Living in Fenland have had many cars stuck in front lawn
Low profile tyres here feel every bump, won't be taking too off road, but is a lovely thing to drive, much different from our first LR lightweight in winter you need gauntlets, balaclava and coke bottle filled with hot water as a demist although I strangely miss it, then I turned the heated seats up, took it to work last night performed perfectly but fingers remain crossed, missis was on her mobile making a call got in sport and it took over her call, dash began ringing Lol she could only finish her call in sport, it is paired as I use spotify, blimy technology wish I understood
So glad I bought the topdon artilog has been a big help, looking at the new topdon Phoenix would be interested in your thoughts
All the best

Funny as I can’t remember the last time I saw a lightweight, seen some with v8’s fitted , indeed lovely motors

Indeed there seems to be so much tech in vehicles these days , nothing like driving a basic one in going back where they had no modules what so ever

Including driving off road when it’s just u and no adaptions to aid , just the skill of the driver , on many of my series 3 I had the horrible tyres that were noisy as hell on the roads , could hear it before I saw a landy , lol

Indeed will check that out mate about the topdon Phoenix as seen Some reviews before , will see if I can find them for u

Must confess never seen one in person so always good checking out various makes
Have a great weekend mate

Are these the ones ur looking at plse as see there are 2 x new ones , thks mate

See this one is compatible where u can add an oscilloscope’s

Really Like the comparison page as at least then u can see them side by side

Scope

Ouch , as just looked at an Autel with a built in scope 5k

Thanks mate some are quite eye watering price wise
Decided to take sport on a longer journey did 60 miles no issues after food restarts but overheating gearbox code, aeb, stability not available etc no limp mode, cleared codes drove back, no issues, drives fine silky smooth gear box until turned off and back on, further investigation needed, still suspect tcm at this point due to amount of corrosion inside other modules
Going to try to get a used unit cloned as first step overland is just down the road
Still think its tcm or sensor itself at this point

Found sensor package with a little help from @gstuart Double checked with company it is in fact correct and ordered with more transmission fluid, hopefully can strip and fit on arrival
Going to remove bumper and rad pack to get a better view and to clean before removing sump
Found a video on what and where

Meant to say you were right @Stanleysteamer when you said sadists although probably could have been worse? Check out First part of video Lol
I stopped once the valve body was off.

Jeezo whata complex mutha!

But a really good vid, the bloke isn't too jokey, isn't too appalingly Merkin and really knows all the little tricks to make it easier, like putting the bolt in to compress the spring. Top vid, well done on finding it mate!
Best of luck with getting it sorted!! :):):):)

As always mate great the link to the sensor was useful to u

Indeed does seem to be pointing towards that gearbox temperature sensor seeing it goes out of range , think in situations like this it can be so difficult to pin it down

Remember there was a gearbox wizard on here called @Bemble ref zf gearboxes as I think he repaired them inside out

Thks for the video and indeed very informative, did see the other one next to it and took some screenshots for u of the connector as been trying to find one for ages as I thought then at least u know what the PIN numbers are , as we now also have the wiring diagram can at last match them both up for testing etc

Suppose it wasn’t surprising how many different sensor part numbers there were , great u now have the right one and indeed as u also mention it’s that sensor that’s at 45 degrees in the look pack

Hope all goes well and isn’t too much of a nightmare to change , dread to think what a dealer would charge but saying that u would just get a quote for a new gearbox seeing they don’t seem to repair a lot of things these days

Hope the pics are useful to u mate , have a great weekend

That’s handy as see the temperature PIN numbers are top right numbers

Pin 25 T_OIL- Automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor ground

Pin 26 T_OIL+ Automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor signal
