Hi everyone, my Freelander td4 (2003) is pushing me to the limits. Last 12 month it made me change vacuum hoses, Turbo big maintenance, and other stuffs make me wonder what is going on. First time in all my life I think the car is not good at all.

Now, I'm experimenting the following issues.

- When it was running, on ralenti, the RPM goes up and down. And sometimes the car went off.
- Now (since tuesday), the car doesn´t start. Just make contact, and when I try to start it, it sounds a clank on the engine and nothing happen.

I've changed battery 2 weeks ago, tested it on other cars I have and works very good.

Starter motor fit some new contacts and a plunger.

Hi all, I have fixed the starter motor, but the car won't start. Here I attach a video link of the fail.



When I set the key on start I can listen the fuel pump running.

How we end here:

1. Turbocharger fail --> fixed and installed.
2. Starter motor fail --> fixed and installed.

Please your help before I burn it

Shouldn't the MIL light go out after a self test? Why does it stay on?

It's a 22 year old vehicle so I would expect that various items will need replacing ,other named brands would have been crushed and sent back as Chinese steel

Do you have a synergy on the FL1? if so remove then try stating the FL1 also have you tried a little sniff of engine start spray into the EGR i mean only a sniff and only once mind, if after that you could always check and change the regulator O-rings on the high pressure fuel pump, 45minutes work and low cost £5.22

I have the hawk eye, but this is the only car I have that doesn't work on it. I think I will need a better scan.

I'll call some friend with Autel scan

Yes, but since it fail, that light is on permanently.
