So after 255.000mls my rocker seal is leaking.. Pfff OK, removed, stripped out completely all it's internals and got it all clean. There was no gunk in there at all👌result and proof of regular oil changes.... Except the seal I bought ( god funking forgive me for making this mistake).. Yes, you guessed..... A shïtpart seal.. Too short, too fine and falls off the moment you go to mount the cover.... And yes you can put spots of silicone in the corners or around the bolt sections but they never did from the factory apart from the semicircle areas.... So I've got to flipping wait while she's now blocking my garage..
The quality of some parts available now is shocking and under developed..... 🤬
Lesson learnt even on a simple seal....

Got coat, leaving!!!!

I've got an elring coming tomorrow or corteco 🤔
Just fed up with crap reproduction parts all across the range of vehicles... Like new pads that need the ears filing down to get a good fit in the supports. It's a waste of my time in the garage when you start to add it all up.. Unpaid flucking about 😒

The Shytpart sump gasket for the HP22 is the same

Hmmm, a corteco seal... Yeah a little better... Removing the aircon pipe clip gave a little more room.
I had to rest the front of the cover onto the engine and with a hand either side of the rear of the cover hold the semicircle on the seal and ease it downward.
I've also found a leaking injector seal on n°1...
You like bubbles don't you🤣

Our governments have been very stupid. They offshored manufacturing to China so our carbon emissions go down and we become a consumer economy. However, the quality goes ever lower and we have to buy ever more **** - running to stand still. We no longer have a manufacturing base so we're in thrall to China. Meanwhile they're shoving the slogan "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" down our throats as ever more plastic gets chucked into the environment.

Perhaps this is the best example to explain the new Bog Standard: my outside toilet is from the 1940s and never goes wrong. It is British made and as reliable as the day it was installed - you could flush a badger down it with no issues. Everything is wood or metal so even if it did break, it could easily be repaired. My inside toilet upstairs is a modern one, presumably from China, and every year or so something goes wrong with it and you pretty much have to replace all the internals because you cannot get the seals or whatever random bit of plastic has broken separately. Moreover, it regularly blocks after #1 son, Clogzilla, has his morning bowel movement, requiring fettling to push the Turdtanic round the u-bend. In short the bog standard is at an all time low.

Stupid in another way too. Other countries with oil production have sovereign wealth funds and/or low taxes, the UK has neither. In the UK the billions have just been frittered away and now politicians are taxing North Sea oil out of existence, Brent rigs are all being scrapped despite there being lots of oil left. The loss of tax income is going to cause the UK government big problems.

Yes, compare to Statoil in Norway where they said the oil money could only be spent on capital improvement projects or invested for the future. Over here they just milked it and spunked it up the wall.
