I thought it was just an interference fit. Clean and stuff into the groove. You could go crazy with tiger seal if you wanted to, but the next person to change the seals will hate you

I've a TDI 200 in my series, with uprated head and IP. I tow with it, and have been known the push it hard. No problems with the box, but I change the oil annually. And I change gear slowly. Ten years since I fitted the turbo.

Exactly. Tub. Seat box and sills, then bulkhead. Best do doors windscreen and roof before finalising the bulkhead.

15w50 is fine for these engines, use a mineral oil rather than synthetic. Personally i wouldn't think a thicker oil would make much difference, but.. if it does.. it's putting off the inevitable and you've already got it in bits. Do you want to...

Dimension request! I'm going to fit a 3/4 hood to my 109 truck cab. I need to fit the front rope hooks to do that. Does anything have the distance between the fold of the door frame and the rivets? Much appreciated!

Some more recent crossmembers have the tab fitted the defender way, avoiding the need for a spacer.
