    My MR2 started and ran just fine on very old petrol after I took it out of storage. I think it's more likely to be a problem on modern engines that are infested with sensors.

    I use a plastic cup (that a dessert came in) shoved on the end of a bamboo garden cane. It works really well and the 'cone ' amplifies any noises

    Detonators deteriorate so unplugged they can go off. There is a huge world wide recall on airbags from one manufacturer because they can detonate unexpectedly.

    No, not really, a very gentle slide down the camber on black ice into a roadside ditch fired the bloody thing.. Loud explosion and it filled the car with smoke. Not pleasant and totally useless as it inflated behind the seat :rolleyes:

    Resistor packs to replace side airbags:- One 1.5 ohms 2 watt or 8off 12 Ohm 0.5 watt 1% in parallel.

    The side airbag will be well past it's use by date, I fitted a resistor at the connector and removed the airbags

    Now fair enough you might set the car on fire with a plumber torch soldering tiny wires but you can get electric soldering irons now which would be a little safer or even small gas powered ones lol.

    Right so quick update - drove back from a cycle to the unit to dump the bike etc and had a quick nose under the seat to check which connector. Moved it slightly and now the SRS light is gone with no message either - so thankfully not the clock...

    Clean connectors with electrical cleaner with before coupling back together. When I had it it was the connector behind panel below steering wheel . 4 screws to remove panel, yellow wires are SRS, pull connector apart spray refit
