I've always loved the classic Land Rover, and was lucky enough to often get a ride to school in the old Mk.1 that was owned by my dad's garage in the 1960s.

In 1990 my company car was a Land Rover FREELANCER which was amazingly capable.

But my dream came true in 2002 when I invested my redundancy money in an Ex-MoD NINETY that had served in the first Gulf War. The chassis was converted in sand, but as solid as a rock (zero rust), and it's also haunted...

A great vehicle. Fondest memory is a 250 trip in the severe Christmas snows a few years back. Driving past rows of broken down cars, up the M4, M40, M6, M56, and M53, with 8" of snow accumulating on the windscreen. The cleared area getting smaller and smaller until the Landy's amazing wipers said "Enough!" and completely cleared the screen! Amazing. I could even overtake the long, very slow moving, tailbacks by utilizling those army tyres and driving onto the virgin snow in the middle lane; while everyone else was stuck in the only clear lane -- well, except a few idiots who tried to follow me .

Best investment I ever made.
