my earth point was actually clean which surprised me. ive made up a lead for the earth wire and mounted the receiver inside the cabin, in the netting storage that is above the rear seats - should keep it out the moisture
A quick google found another company, they manufacture series chassis (if you've got £3k handy) and offer a fitting service clearly at extra cost.
I read elsewhere on here that a D3 chassis replacement would be over £10k, different kettle of...
I opened up my receiver box to expose the printed circuit and left to dry in tub of dry rice.
An overnight in airing cupboard had it operating again after refit.
Funny looking hole - never seen a rust hole as neat as that...
Are you sure it's not a pre-fabricated / design feature, e.g for access, or for drainage?
How thick are the edges? if it's rust it will be like a jagged blunt razor blade, surely...
I'll have a look but my fingers are not as nimble or strong as they used to be, with arthritis hitting the joints :vb-groan2:
My headliner is starting to sag so I'll maybe remove the whole thing for a recovering in the summer and have a proper...
I'd say it automatically immobilised when you woke it up by reconnecting the battery - so you should have locked with the fob and opened with the fob, as first action after reconnecting.
Mine sometimes ignores the remote fob... usually only after...
if running to help is a paying concern...
3 weeks... so 15 days labour (at £150 per day) is £2,250
plus parts to be supplied but let's say another £2,500 if the "helper" has to find the parts...
Let's round it off to £5k for mates rates...
Not tried these personally but have you tried this company?
Website looks good & says its a family team of 2, so might be busy...
They do up to half chassis, based in Kenilworth, (google says 45 miles from you) and include a fitting...
Very similar symptoms on mine turned out to be a collapsed inner wall on the pipe between the turbo and the intercooler.
The rubber can feel solid/hard on the outside but gets delaminated inside and block the airflow as the revs increase.
Would...
I've done a little bit of welding, but I'm not up to this. I think I might remove the interior bits myself, so I know it's done! The job is being farmed out by the MoT garage to 'their' welder bloke, so I'd imagine they'd put a bit on top of his...
I did mine, so it was almost zero cost, just my time/effort (I won't count the Aldi welder, a nice little £60 unit, perfect for this)
A premade kit from Froggatts is £66 + postage, but I didn't really want to do a replacement mount, just a...
This is the second one I've put on, the previous lasted about 3 years.
I think it gets rotted-out by the oily air/mist or drips blown-out by the turbo...(?)
Do the silicon ones resist the oil for longer?
I tend to keep cars for a very long...
Oh bugger - my D2 is in for its MoT on Wednesday and I've just found a rather rusty body mount in the area below the drivers seat. That's bound to be a fail. I was looking to see how the side steps came off, as the box sections are rusted through...
On my D2, via ebay and £12 incl p&p I replaced the 1st small hose on the way from the Turbo to the Intercooler...
as the old one had developed a 4 inch long split
Just re-checked Rimmers catalogue - looks like you can only buy those 3...
Series 3 for sale. Bought by me in 2008 as a runner with problems. First problem was the engine block was cracked so replaced with a 2.5 N?A diesel.
Chassis changed for galvanised Richards one. New radiator, new parabolics and shockers. Tub floor...
