What have you done to your Freelander today

Mine packed up Monday, was indeed a pain in the arse not helped by being supplied the wrong replacement (wrong plug fitting) at first, so had to exchange that. Then that one was a pig to get the 3 bolts to line up, which they eventually did, only to find out the plug socket on the back was about...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Today I am putting the new drivebelts on as had to change the alternator last week. And it was a bit of a pain tbh which I will go into later depending on how this goes…..

What have you done to your Freelander today

On an unrelated note I have put the soft top on my Hippo anticipating a lovely sunny week. Every time I do this I imagine the designers laughing at how ridiculously awkward, fragile and fiddly it is to get it up and down. In fact if anyone has the 2 window panels sitting around please let me...

What have you done to your Freelander today

My wife is the only woman I have lived with who doesn’t replace the toilet roll. Which is ok cos she is fanatical about everything else being put away, tidied up, washed, arranged. I leave spoons on the side, dirty dishes out, stuff out of the fridge all the time, not to wind her up although...

I put the flash little one from Muddy Mods or something like that on mine. Very nice it is too although cost more as I remember but that was years ago. When I used to spend money on it.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I work at a scrapyard so we do get a fair share of end of life vehicles but this was the first 3 door Hippo since I’ve been there. Been waiting for one for ages, kept thinking I had to buy a couple of tyres then got lucky. Still got the sports rims in the garage, in case I come across some...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I posted on 16/03/25 smugly about replacing my starter motor. What a fool…. Three days later the new one stopped working altogether. So after much cursing, blood sweat and tears put the old one back in. Started first time and continues to work fine. The firm who supplied the new rubbish one...

Freelander 1 I have a freelander currently on a Caribbean island with a bad rear diff . can i delete the rwd --looking to convert my freelander to 2wd front wheel

Yep prop shaft off. I put a blanking plate on the IRD too but don’t know if you actually have to, just whip it off and all of the 4 wheel drive problems disappear. Like I nearly did when I span mine at a wet roundabout cos I forgot I didn’t have 4 wheel drive 😆

What have you done to your Freelander today

Today I have replaced the starter motor on my 2006 TD4. Not had to do anything to mine for ages so started with some trepidation however actually went well. Watched a YouTube vid and the guy removed the air intake hoses but when I looked at it I couldn’t see what difference that would make so...

Same problem with mine, luckily the bolt came out with the riv nut so managed to get them off.

Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

I am by no means a metal fabricator but by using the frame of the rubbish plastic supplied undertray it wasn’t hard. I used riv bolts and a couple of pieces of angle iron and it works great, just have to undo the bolts to take off the tray leaving the frame in place for oil changes etc.
