Thanks. I have noticed some chaffing of a white and green cable going to the fuel sensor. There is continuity between the white cable and the ground that runs alongside it. The white cable is energised when the engine is running - but not the...
There aren't that many earth points and the loom behind the dash is accessible. The dash is easy to remove and if it means getting better access to solve your problem then it's worth it. It sounds like a short to me though but it may not be...
200Tdi Ninety
Hi
This is a new post - hoping that someone can advise me how to systematically troubleshoot a problem I am having with my 1986 200Tdi Ninety.
Following an attempt to sort out a couple of issues........
[
- trying to wire up the...
Hi, yes, that's correct: the red/white relay trigger wire stays non live and the corresponding earth is live
I've taken the relay out completely and am using a jumper cable with a momentary switch across the output terminals (live cable in...
I initially thought it was the white/red cable from the ignition switch getting re-energised. However, that's not the case. The ground (black) cable is getting the juice and causing the relay to re-activate.
It's definitely re-energising. If you remember, initially I thought it was something else.belt driven, but it's definitely the starter restarting. Not a good sound to hear (or smell to smell!). Removing the relay and using the jumper solves it...
This post began with a problem with starting and has morphed into other head scratching mysteries. The problem I am now having is related to the starter circuit - but slightly different.
Just to recap, after fiddling with wires behind the...
Thanks. Sounds good. I'll go through them on that basis. I'll look for a glow plug one.... Yes, I have a fuse box cover, but it doesn't refer to the relays....
Hi
Here's the latest of my increasing number of posts ref my 1986 Ninety - 200Tdi. Oh no, not him again! 😂
So I had a reconditioned LT77 gearbox from Beaumont fitted (by a proper mechanic) in the last 2 months. All forward gears working well...
I'll do that. Might there be a glow plug relay - in which case it will be difficult to identify whether they are on or off. I don't have. a light on the dash....
Does anyone know how I would find out which relay is which on my 1986 Ninety 200TDi. I know the one on the extreme left is the starter relay and the one on extreme right is the hazard relay.
Thanks
I used the cheapest sound pads from Ebay and they worked just fine. I then used a foam insulation from Vandalised, that also worked fine.
Dodo is too expensive in my mind.
Sound pads on the inside of the door skins and foam inside the door inner...
Thanks for all this. I think I'll start with the Deadn from Dodo and see how I go. I'm intending to put the Exmoor rubber mat in the front anyway - so this should help. And I will get a rubber mat for the back as well.....
Don't know if Noisekillers are still going up near me in Royton Oldham 🤔
I'm not sure Exmoor sells a similar thing.
Might be worth looking at the trucks supply.
Hi
I've been looking at the price of Dynamat on the various sites and wondered if the is an effective cheaper alternative? I want to do the following areas in my 1986 Ninety: rear floor and wheel arches, the footwells, under seats, possibly...
My bet is the engine was replaced much later, Discovery only came on the market in 89 ish.
Mine is a 1990 Ninety with 200 fitted in the naughty's.
Last year recovered the center seat and had to use later type cover.
It can be a bit of a fight to...
Yes, common enough. I did that very job for a mate some years ago. Also many have had drum brake rear axle replaced with later disc brake axle. Box of chocolates as Forrest said.:):)
....as I am finding out - the hard way. 😂 Any examples of other differences I should be aware of, going forward.....? Yes, it's got a Discovery 200Tdi fitted (don't know when - '89 maybe?). Someone seems to have been very creative with...
Defender 90, 1986 200TDi
Hi all
Thought I'd spend the evening fitting new Britpart seat covers to my Defender 90 seats. Watched the video and got stuck in, only to quickly realise that the guy in the video has not got the same seats as I have...
It seems my problem here has morphed into another one. The good news is that it wasn't the sound of the water pump failing. The not so good news is that it's the starter getting stuck on the flywheel. That explains the sound continuing briefly...
Gauges are unreliable in accuracy, but good for a trend. If the lower hose is cold then it's probably okay, assuming the thermostat opens.
The voltage regulator in the dash needs an earth and is essential for gauge operation.
