I doubt the mechanic flushed the fuel system to be honest .. So if metal is in there fuel filter will you hear the tapping sound? Also, if I do flush the fuel system will that get rid of the tapping sound .. (Sorry if I sound or am asking...

Not sure if mechanic has flushed it .. he did say that there was no shavings found in the oil though .. so not sure .. Mechanic said he only changed 3 injectors and told me it’s now running on 6 cylinders After all that he’s now telling me...

3.0 is famed for crank failure, with the oil contamination and also quantity found in the sump i'd say your engine is past it... :)
