When I retrieved the transmission bits off my K Series parts car, I removed the exhaust.
Its no good to me so sat in the garage for years.
Eventually had a clear out and listed it on the Kiwi version of eBay. Not the slightest of interest...
Replaced back box. Picked up last MOT as the outer was rusted and coming away. Not blowing. See the pic of the old one below. Looks suspiciously like a date code, if it is, it’s done very well. My FL is a March 06 registration on 157.5 k miles...
Well the plan was to replace the El Cheapo front ARB bushes with some poly ones - Floflex not Powerflex to see how long they last.
TLDR: didn’t happen had to put El Cheapos back.
The polys when measured side by side with the others are bigger...
Finally finished the front suspension replacement (I hope!)
Replaced both struts, springs, lower arms, TRE’s and drop links. Also put a new driveshaft on the n/s, as the old one had some damage.
Managed to break a bolt in the upper mounts...
Done it. Like using the suede effect. Nice and thin and stretches.
The best tip is only to glue about 12 inches, sorry 300mm at a time and take your time.
Don't glue the edges until you are done and then the glue won't grab the fabric while...
I think there’s a bit of confusion about this post, with regards to the heater knobs. I don’t have any problems with surrounds - the red and blue, direction or fan speed are all lit up as they should be.What I was asking initially (although I...
Thanks for that. How do you get the switches out?Although I suppose it does matter if you wreck it on the way out as you’ve got to get another switch anyway. ☹️
Hi All,
Driving the other night with lights on(!) I noticed that the hazard switch and the three heater knobs were not illuminated. Question is should they be? The two fog light and rear wash/wipes were all lit, as were the three heater dials/...
Hi htr,
I did my headlining last year. To answer you question I don’t think it matters which end you start from, I think it’s more important to have two sets of hands. One to do the actual laying of the fabric and the other to roll the fabric out...
Took the F1 along for its WOF today. Took it into the wash bay at work first and gave it a good clean up and water blast. It always looks great when its had a wash.
It was getting late when I dropped it off, so left it in the lines of cars to...
Washed and polished mine. If ever there was a thankless task, especially at this time of year. Buffed the headlights. Mixed success; OS pretty good, NS less so. Used Autoglyms kit. Noticed however that the NS had a bit of condensation in at the...
Had its 6 month oil renewal. Plus filter of course, air, pollen, crankcase breather(?) you know the cylindrical one in front of the air filter, and that funny little one, lives behind the block, has one pipe to it and costs pennies turbo...
But if you'd decided to buy a car for 3 grand, the clutch could have crapped out in 6 months anyway.
I never understand why people relate the cost of a repair to the value of the car - it needs to be compared to a REPLACEMENT car that's worth...
My slave cylinder failed in November, and I bit the proverbial bullet and went for it - both cylinders, new clutch and DMF. All by LUK. £1700! Had some engine mounts done at the same time.
My reasoning was:
1. Scrap the FL and get pennies, then...
