Changing the bulbs on the instrument cluster is dead easy, just remove the module and you can get at them all from the back. +1 for Les on the key front. I got a spare made a couple of years back. JLR gave me the lock barrel code and all I had...

If the new oil you added has cleaning agents in it, it will probably loosen up a decent amount of gunk. So i would do another oil change reasonably soon. The how soon would be based on how dirty i think the engine is and how expensive the new oil is.

Yesterday i took my 1999 P38 for MOT at 2.45 pm and by 3.30 i drove it out with a pass. Not bad seeing it hasnt been on the road for 5 years but before it went in i had to replace 5 bulbs but that was all today i taxed it.

Possibly the hole the ball-joint goes into has been deformed so it just wrecks the new ball-joint? Or someone fitted Britpart.

If Flossie has a Nanocom, all he needs to do is turn off the Immobiliser and EKA functions in the BECM, then the FOB battery will not matter.

Not just the L322. I would go as far as to say: The P38 is different... to every other car! Man that is a complicated arrangement! @Flossie - Stand really still and don't do ANYTHING until you have a new battery! :)

That is true. On the diesel, the immobiliser is actually a mobiliser, the BECM sending a code the the EDC to allow starting. It's a fixed code and if the BECM loses the code, the only way to recover is via diagnostics, you read the EDC code and...

At least one place will send you a device in the post that will record the output from you FOB from which they can produce a new FOB after you return it.
