I think the diag tool will reconnect it for you after emergency pull has been used ? have to do some research as I may be talking out of my arse!
With the susp in off road mode and the spare wheel out of the way access is not to bad, not easy...

Park up to a wall, then switch lights on, if they are full brightness instantly they are halogens, if they take a second to get to full brightness then they are Hid/Xenon.
