@tottot can you explain a little how the colour tune works and if I need one? I’ve heard of them but no idea what they are!

One question though! I’ve got her running well, plenty of power with how I’ve set timing. Is it worth putting a light gun on and FINE tuning it or will I get no real benefit. I’d say she’s as punchy as she was! Even slightly accelerates uphill in 4th!!!!

Ok... problem solved! So it was all caused by the pesky air mixture screw being too rich at idle! Appears to have fouled up no.4 plug and the others but mostly no.4 til she wouldn’t spark! Anyway, today I swapped plugs, coil, leads and installed a new accuspark electronic dizzy! Engine...

I replaced my worn old zenith with a chinese copy which has been brilliant so far. I think I might have twiddled with the mixture myself miles and miles ago and am now paying for running her rich!

Well I used a mini file to just scrape off the crap and give the gap a couple of shiney surfaces for the spark to jump between. I've a box of new plugs to drop in once I've got the mixture properly set on this set of plugs, but these are only 6 months old so gap is decent, they're hardly used...

Ok, update.... I took each plug out and think I’ve found the issue. All plugs were seriously black and caked up. Plug 4 was totally caked up and oily and slightly wet. Checked mixture and screw was dialed per out pretty far so must have been running very rich for some months! I’ve...

Still waiting on referb kit but today I replaced coil and leads to no improvement. Next stop, plugs and dizzy cap. Failing that entirely new dizzy!

Yes it’s already fitted which explains why I now have no condenser ;) sounds like you don’t need one with this kit? So just à plugs, leads and maybe coil swap to try.

@Shippers the electronic pick up was fitted and working before I had the issue. I’m not installing a new one, just in case I confused you there. Just trying to diagnose the intermittent rough running now by swapping points plugs, cap, condenser etc

It’s one like this! Just sits inside the old dizzy as far as I can tell.
