You might be right, the book says for a 1275 the tank holds 33ltrs and at 4.54l/G that's 7.2 Gallons.

Tank outlet in the boot and then should be a metal pipe running along under the car. Electric pump fine but watch pressure as it can overcome the float valve and flood.

This is true, but I think the outlet of the tank might be under the boot floor and I am not sure such a delicate part ought to be so exposed. But I will look to see if there is anywhere suitable. I am told others remove the mechanical pump and...
