Started late today, so it was head down, ass up kind of day. I had used the same setting method on the input and mainshafts. I re-adjusted the High low detent and am much happier with how it shifts. I fitted the Difflock cover and then removed...
Well when it rains it pours...
Had a VERY concerning moment earlier! Started the 110, left it running for a min came back to quite a lot of smoke coming out the bonnet!
Turned off, checked, no fire... it appears the cam cap is leaking into the...
As above, a problem selecting gears is a clutch, main box issue.
Transfer box, put the diff lock in and see how much movement you have at the flanges [both props need to be off to do this properly] If there is a lot of slop when one flange is...
Up bright and early, Dog walked and the boxes arrived right after lunch Dandy
Got it all unpacked and checked over and got started.
Gave the casings a whiff of silver to try to slow the oxidisation process
While that was drying I started to...
Everythings been pretty good for a while!
Except when I fitted new wiper blades, turned them on and got stuck...
Now the wipers are rather weak, so that only means one thing...
Wiper overhaul š„ one job i rather dread....
In the mean time...
The Sleeved casing and a big box of goodies is due to arrive from Ashcroft's tomorrow.
I have removed all the bearings from their various locations and cleaned up all the bits.
I called in a favour and got the casings blasted, as I'm going to...
As mentioned, a poor repair which was likely covered in underseal. The rust will also be worse than what you can see as the chassis will be rusting from the inside. There might be space to negotiate on price given the cost of repair but unless...
Izzy got some fresh air over the weekend. The roof was lifted off in the garage and now hangs from the ceiling. Which is great as its out of the way...but is a bit of a blocker for a couple of the flourescent strip tubes...
The side panels are...
Hi and welcome!
To begin with, I wondered why a picture of some scaffolding had been posted until I scrolled down further! Nice looking disco. Thatās quite a list of preventative maintenance done there too.
Thankyou Stanley, much appreciated, I did pay more than I wanted to but this car was just too good to walk away from, I paid well south of £10,000 from a dealer but via a mate who is in the trade so effectively a trade deal .
Hey all! Canāt believe after five years weāve managed to join the dots on this!
Absolutely fantastic to see it! Thanks so much for posting. It means a huge amountā¦
Delighted itās with a good home. Iād been trying to keep a track through the...
As you have a non standard engine and made up hoses, by the looks of it. Take the hose off and go to your frendly motor factor, go through his hoses and find 1 that is the right size and has the right bend. then cut off the bit you need. You may...
Thank you everyone for your kind words! Means a lot š I'm currently going through the 'wtaf have i done / i utterly love it' stage! š¤£
That air filters weird isn't it! Pizza over/ coffee machine! It seems dry and ok - I'm replacing the filter -...
Whats the score on the ādoorsā George doors ā¦. Well its only a new set of series style galv doors from sp4x4 !
Glass removed a little tidying up of the welds with the flap disc, a quick once over with 80 grit on the DA and they are ready for...
Air filter housing all cleaned up and painted, couldnāt get any landy spring clips but ordered some JCB ones that are very similar and after a bit of fetteling should fit
Been a while since I updated or in fact done anything due to a sinking cold. That said Ive cleaned and sprayed all of the front seat frames and sliders, cleaned up all the galv pieces and got the galv bulkhead etched and primed.
Series style...
The BFG ATās on my disco 1 were the best tyres Iāve had. They had excellent wear and Road holding for a Land Rover. Iāve currently got Cooper ATRās on my 90 and they are all terrain but with a slightly more Road-biased pattern and again last well...
There won't be any height difference just by going for a road tyre, unless you change size. Which is an option, but depends what size you have now. Smaller tyres will also impact gearing. It is all possible however.
In terms of tyres... do you...
There will not be a huge difference between AT and what are often called "all weather" noise wise.
Fitting a lower profile tyre to fit into multi story's will upset your gearing, needing more revs to obtain the same road speed as before.
You...
Had my landy a long time. When it was still a 19j about 23 year ago had the original fork go through.
Also found its pivot had worn to a point. Replaced with standard fork and new pivot with a dab of grease on it.
3 Years later 19j was done...
Not quite, but that line of thinking triggered a memory!
They go under the centre tub capping - the one on the bulkhead - and rivets through the top capping hold them on.
So thank you...jigsaw puzzle piece solved.
Had to remove the front radius arm to do some welding, yes more, so changed the bushes while I was there.
While I was there I decided it would be a good idea to cut my thumb, burn my hand and arm and blob a bit of weld in my ear, oh well it got...
I fitted one of these

Seems nicely made. Cheaper models are available, of course.
If it's the TD5 you're buying for, it's a 16mm thread you want. I can't vouch for other species of Land Rover as I don't...
Just done an oil and filter change this morning. Now I've got such a high mileage engine I don't work out the service intervals by doing sums in my head. I do this in the spring and the autumn instead, so it happens about every six months. I've...
