Here you go - engine bay shots, the bits that you can't easily see with the engine in place. Photos taken standing inside the engine bay with some key components listed to allow you to work out where you are looking ! TD4 Manual Facelift vehicle...
I have 15, 16, 17 and 18 inch wheels on 4 different Freelanders.
The 18 inch with 50 series tyres is best on the motorway but not good on pot holes.
My 17 inch wheels with 225/65 Geolanders is by far the best ride and they last forever !! Well...
OK, I found the following installation reference document HERE. Very disappointed by the supplier that they do not have an English equivalent guide (only available in German 🤬).
Just in case someone else needs the document in the future, I have...
All of my Freelanders had original exhausts so they must have been well made.
And yes as Nodge says the power steering hose is always flattened like that. It had me concerned too the first time I saw it.
The flat hose is the PS return line, and yes they are flat. I believe the flat hose is some form of crude noise reduction system, there the hose can absorb noise from the pump or rack. Don't worry about it, unless it starts leaking.
Replaced the rear n/s door window regulator in my old F1 (now cherished by my daughter).
Easy job - old out and new in, all bolted back up again. Of course, being the smart man that I am, I thought to check it all worked properly before putting...
Spent the day doing checks around the rear diff seal and underside. Diff seal region often looked dirty and damp. The rear silencer box looked like it had been sprayed with oil mist at some point before I took ownership nearly 5 years ago. But...
Green car into workshop, had a bit of an electric drive around on starter first as most of it will go in the scrap bin!! All bits in better condition than donor engine swapped over; pcv, fuel return hose, broken clips etc.
All top disconnections...
Thought i would update this since I have fixed the rough idle and smoke on cold start. Or rather thanks to the advice i got on this thread i fixed it.
When i got the car it was blowing black and greyish smoke and surging when idle.
The black...
It's out of the donor car.
So about 3 hours to drain fluids and do all the top disconnections (that is disconnect not cut or chop !).
And about another 3 hours to drop the front subframe, remove driveshafts and drop assembly out using an engine...
New Fuel pump arrived and has been successfully fitted hallelujah 🙌
Absolute dream to fit.. no need for bars or skipping rope. Used the specialist tool including the bolt (part 2 &3) to move the sprocket and once moved and held in place by...
Back onto this one again now.
Donor car is on the ramp, warmed up and drained all fluids. Removed all failed glowplugs. One left a tip in the engine. Will add how I got that out in the glowplug thread.
All disconnections made on top and all...
Hello all
I fitted my towbar recently and used a Jaeger 7 pin wiring kit. It connects into the OEM plug in the rear boot space. I tested it all out with my trailer tester and no problems were revealed.
Last night was the first time I drove...
Done it. Like using the suede effect. Nice and thin and stretches.
The best tip is only to glue about 12 inches, sorry 300mm at a time and take your time.
Don't glue the edges until you are done and then the glue won't grab the fabric while...
Made up a couple.of map pocket presses to make sure the headlining sticks in the corners.
A bit of profiled skirting and 36mm waste pipe !!!
Bolt goes through the fixing hole in the roof to pull them in firmly.
A time saving update.
Doing the headliner in the Sport now. Tried taking all one side trim out then folding back seat and winding front seat back on the same side. Headliner drops and un hooks from side with trim still fitted.
Means you only...
Some photos - removal is the fixing studs which need a trim remover, clip on A post covers, clip on B post covers, rear boot side panels, rear boot window panels. All fairly straight forward except the rear boot window panels that I hadn't...
To answer my own question on the offchance some one else buys the other SD roofrack in the UK...
These go on the back between the RR and the roof. This is to support the RR as the roof rail mounts are not fat enough back to support the entire SD RR.
My penny-worth: Years Ago I owned a Rover P5B. The sump gasket needed replacing. When the sump was off it got a good clean. In it was a grey almost clay-like goo at the bottom and in that were numerous aluminium pieces = shavings. I wasn't hugely...
