The clip that hold the battery in the fob can break away from the PCB when you change the battery.
Its happened to mine twice.
Can result in a random connection of the battery, so sometimes will work, others not.
Need to get the clip soldered...
Well done for getting it sorted.
As a matter of interest, can you buy the sockets those chargers plug in to?
Might stick 1 on the side of my Freelanders so I can plug a charger in and make it look like its charging. Quite often the charging...
Hey All.. IRD REBUILD SAGA Continues
I’m still here but in a much reduced capacity… in welding wire and ability.
Having spent some time trying to identify a bearing etc and finally
Looking at some video footage I
had made during the...
So after a couple of weeks procrastinating I finally made time to try and figure out how to make the charger work at a commercial EVSE which the setup above failed to achieve.
It works great at home but commercial chargers require a low...
Do the ARB bushes while the drop links are off. Takes all load off then !
You'll need to slide under and a pair of ramps will help. 4 x 10mm bolt heads from memory threaded into front subframe.
Thanks! Very helpful @andyfreelandy that you confirm my thoughts. The ground here has enough undulations to position the hippo in a position that I can slide under (with wheel blocks to stop her rolling back or forwards).
I ordered Mapco reinforced ARB drop links and Moog bushes. The OEM ones are end of life, no doubt.
My plan is to just go to full steering lock with the car on ground and change the ARB links since the fastenings aren't seized and have...
I'm pretty sure mine were marked 12.9, but it's very possible that 10.9 weren't available when the kit was assembled, so they added stronger bolts, rather than weaker bolts.
As you say, in reality I expected the anchorage in the body would fail...
Hi everyone!
While I was busy with locating the "fuse" problem, I happened to find another problem and was able to fix it! From the beginning, my Freelander with the L-Series diesel was not exactly a rocket. I had no comparison and took it as it...
Good question @Nodge68 , need to check 🤔 since they work mostly in shear for an engine mount. I'll update as soon as I find out!
UPDATE: The supplied Fiat Ducati fasteners are 10.9 grade. I also looked at the fasteners from the OEM recovery...

The top black trim piece has to be removed. First time around I took one side piece off and had to replace the clips as they broke. This time I did it without taking the side off, just lifted the side piece clear at the top to unhook...
That's cos it's not raining !
I notice, after heavy rain, when I open the door, water comes out of the small air holes in the rubber door seal along the bottom edge. It shouldn't be getting in there !
Mine was the water coming in via the plastic clips that hold the external trim across the top of the door. Took a while to track it down as the usual giveaway is the roof lining being wet which I didn't have. The water was running down inside the...
Normal FL1 issue. There are a few causes, some to do with the rear door not selling correctly, and sometimes the weld between the cubby and the boot floor isn't sealed correctly, allowing water in from below.
Some owners fix the issue, other's...
As a point of reference for anyone else, Fiat Ducato (since 2006) engine mount bolts are M12x1.25x75 (Mopar 1348355080) and are perfect for the two bolts that provide the vertical attachment. I paid 4€ each.
Finally got around to fitting the towbar. I used M12 oversized washers, OD 40mm and 2,25mm thick. They slid into the space perfectly.

You can look up the part here, as well as order it direct.

Icarsoft has one advantage. Small and keep in glove box for roadside failures.
However, it only reads the engine ECU despite calls and emails to icarsoft. Tech support is rubbish. Mine shows my gearbox input shaft rotating at 16,500 RPM !! Car...
SOLVED
The clunking was the o/s BRAND NEW Borg & Beck top mount bearing on the strut.
Identified and switched out for a LR top mount bearing, no more clunking!
The guys at https://www.freelanderspecialist.com/ found it inside 5 minutes. They...
Latest update on the charge control setup.
It works! :D
I've done lots of testing and so far no major issues so I figured maybe it was time for Mk2
