I am 75 years old and have lived on the Maine Coast in the Penobscot Bay region for the last 20 years. Been involved with the sea for the last 60 years first as U.S. Navy officer then as documentary film maker and finally owning a Marina and Charter Fleet here in Maine. I was the original owner on my 1974 Series III Land Rover 88. Like a fool, I sold the car in 1982 (after being seduced by a Jaguar XK150). Due to a miracle I was able to buy my Series III back 26 years later after it underwent a frame up restoration (except for electrics and upgrades). Now I do all the work on my Series and continue to upgrade and maintain. Two years ago I bought a Series IIA which had been resting in a Maine farm field for about 20 years....mostly because I wanted the tropical roof for my Series III.....and I plan to use the rest of the truck for a parts source....or maybe convert to a custom Series Trailer.....or who knows? I do not know if it will run......but probably if I got really curious.
I spend most of my time working on the Landy, maintaining my Grand Banks 36 trawler and Lyman runabout, my woodshop and building models and miniatures. A happy busy man. If you live in or come to Maine get in touch.......Jerry K.
