I'd find the BMW part number and then ask them, just to see. You might be surprised. Might be worth trying Vauxhall too as the same engine went in their Omega.

Fitted a stereo with DAB and Bluetooth (complete with external microphone). Works very well. Can change the colour to match the dash too. Sony MEX-N7300BD, if anyone is interested.
The manual transmission uses the connections at the bottom of the rad as they are a water to oil cooler that is in the rad, they just sell one that fits both type of gearbox.
Mine blew rads every two years and had done since 2004 when it was reprogrammed to 170bhp. Went through two rads in 4yrs, one an nrf and one a Nissens.
