Good point. I always fill until the pump stops itself. If it leaks during a partial fill that might help narrow the search for the leak. I'll try that today.

Does it only happen as you brim it, or every time, even if not filled to maximum?

Have a chat with these guys - not too far from you. https://www.freelanderspecialist.com/category/freelander-2 You’d certainly be able to take it there and they would have a quick look and advise you if it’s worth doing. I’ve used them a couple...

If corrosion isn't an issue, why not keep it? It's normally better the devil you know. 165k is nothing for a well maintained FL2.

From a safety and elf perspective, wear some cushioning protective layer on your forehead. Cos when the diesel drops down into your eyes, your head will flinch up and hit the underbody. Alternatively, wear eye protection as that will have the...

Alright, I got it to run, so will leave this for future generations wasting a week just like me. Step 1. Key to pos 1. Step 2. Negative battery off for 5 mins. Step 3. Negative back on. Step 4. You will see it turning on the dash without asking...

Give it a good run - stick some tunes on and use the air-con. You’ll enjoy it and so will yer FL!

A (good) railway sleeper , cut into 4, works really well for some quick ground clearance. Just drive that baby right on up for an instant 4” lift … 😉 Of course, elf n safety dictates that I should say “place your axle stands when stopped, for...

If it’s ‘only’ leaking when you fill up (and engine off I assume?), then to me it would suggest it’s not related to the return side, so presumably something on the fill side. There is a vent pipe, but that would only vent air out. Maybe in the...

Do you want petrol or diesel? Most defenders are diesel. If you want petrol then better off looking for a series, which are even simpler, though you do need to find a decent example that's not rotted out or modded by numpty with no clue. Or both...

I agree that it sounds like the immobiliser is not allowing the car to start, for whatever reason. If you have tried the obvious (new battery in fob / spare key / all fuses etc), then my next ‘easy’ check would be the actual car battery. The F2...

My old banger £200 daily driver runaround bmw failed the mot today with a knackered subframe. I had a good look at it and the whole rear suspension looks like it's been parked in the sea for some years, so sadly off to the scrappy it goes. It...
