Is the current prop phased correctly?
Is there any play in the splines in the sliding section of the prop?

I don't think that is that bad. I have picked things up from the blasters that look like that! It is just the very light flash surface rust you get on pristine steel.
I do not know how it was attached originally but if it just screws back in I would be looking to fill with solder to secure. I say solder rather than weld as this would allow it to be removed in the future if required.
