Got a bit more done this morning, cam chain and sprockets off, rocker assemblies, pushrods, followers, cam, valley gasket and both heads. The head bolts were the tightest thing i've ever had to undo, broke one socket but managed to get it done...
Picked up a new 4.6 for parts and possibly block.
Front cover is identical and undamaged,oil pump is also intact and looking great. Just need to fit my oil filter angled adapter on and will be golden.
Got a fair bit more progress to show you guys! Stripped the block of front cover, cam chain and sprockets, camshaft, pistons & rods, crankshaft and sump. Here's some pics...

Air box etc out of the way.
Upper intake manifold off.
Lower intake manifold, coil packs, fan, belts, pulleys, coolant hoses and rocker covers etc.
Heads off.
The problem cylinder, all liners look and feel ok for...
often the only way is to either bore liner thin then pickle out ,or remove heads block water ways ,fill with hot water and pressurise with air line ,if cracked it squirts up between liner and block

So anyway. It was finally time to put it back in the hole.
New rad and thermostat Fitted.
On Mark Adams' recommendation, I got a new Bosch AFM for a 4.6 P38 range rover to match the new mapping...
