If you can get hold of a left hand drill bit it may spin out in reverse. As you say it should be loose in the hole.

Just a quick follow up. Finally got the tank level down to 1/4 tank (yes, it's not used much) and it's still running properly so looks like there was an issue with the fuel pump not siphoning fuel from one side of the tank. Time to start fixing...

I tried it leaving it in reverse and,putting handbrake . Oh boy did it complain that time. Thank god for a good handbrake. I was a couple of metres from hill edge 🙈😮

Try it with the foot brake on and see how much it complains :)

Is the handbrake on the wheel? As the car changes height there's bound to be a little rotation on the axis where the axle would be.

Improved my fuel economy by fixing a leaking feed pipe to the HP fuel pump, 2 hours removing the intake manifold tightening a jubilee clip and putting it back together. Would have been quicker if I'd had cake. My drive will appreciate it as well...

Did it start after you had the brakes done? My handbrake was crap but the local indi fitted new discs and pads and got it working properly. What about if you just stick it in park without the handbrake until it's settled?

If you are around Manchester area i have a spare LCM that you can try. It's for a later car but it will prove if your LCM is faulty or not. Everything works but it flashes the brake lights every 6 seconds or so.

Does sound like an LCM fault. I guess you'll need to see what fault codes show up tomorrow and go from there. Be careful if you buy another LCM as they store a backup of the mileage and I've heard your dash will change to what ever is on the LCM...

Mine creaks if I adjust the height with the handbrake on and in park. Much smoother in neutral and no handbrake. As long as you're not on a hill :)

It could be the handbrake. A lot of cars do it. As the sus drops the angle of the arm changes at the rear and can force the handbrake a little. Your on cable and not electric aren't you @gold rover? 🤔

What are they doing? are there any light faults showing on the dash? Are there any fault codes in the LCM? If you unplug the LCM for a few minutes and reconnect it is everything ok again for another 5 mins?
