@300bhp/ton my inclination is to keep leafs and eventually upgrade to parabolic springs and the appropriate shocks. I keep an open mind in case something just comes along that is clearly better. For parts, I just want to make sure I get what I...

I didn't have locking hubs on mine. Mostly they are aftermarket and often prone to issues or leaking. I never felt as if I needed them. In theory they can offer mpg benefits, but I didn't own the vehicle for mpg. As for what parts. What are you...

300bhp/ton replied to the thread Recommendations for DII rear lift springs?.
Air springs don't automatically mean better ride. What they offer is variable ride height. However, the design of the air springs on a D2/p38a mean, the more inflated they are, the stiffer the spring rate is. Ie a more bouncy ride. The ride is...

Has to depend on many things. The V8 often sounds like it is revving hard when it isn't. You'd run a 4 pot at the same revs for instance. It is very easy to over gear a vehicle. And how fast do you want to go? I had a 200Tdi S3 88, I did put...

Money & time can achieve many things. Do you have plenty of both or at least lots of one? That said, I'd have thought butchering a Series 1 would massively devalue it. Defender interiors are basic anyway, so maybe you could clarify what you are...

What are you wanting to use the p38 for? Is it for off roading? And do you still have air suspension? The biggest issue is, if you are on air still and the system drops to the bumps stops. Bigger tyres will rub massively and you may not be able...

The speedo over reads with stock tyres, so you can go bigger to get a more accurate speedo.... however, such things just aren't checked anyway. And with GPS on your phone, it is very easy to see what is what and adapt.

99.99% of the time it is the pads vibrating on the pistons. Liberal application of copper slip on the backs of the pads will solve the issue. This would be the most basic of car maintenance. So you have to wonder how much you should really have...

300bhp/ton replied to the thread Disco 1 what shocks should i use?.
Budget? Do you tow or have a fully loaded vehicle often? You can normally get away with +2" shocks, they will give a bit more down travel off road. Rear springs could dislocate, you can either clamp the top of the spring or run dislocation...
