Hi all,

I have a 2005 Freelander XEI 1.8 K Series - Petrol. It has a misfire and I was wondering if there is anybody out there that has changed the fuel injectors on their Freelander.

I have already changed the plugs, coils and leads (twice), but now I think it might be the fuel injectors and/or the manifold gasket.

My question is: how easy is it to remove and replace the fuel injectors?

Injectors are easy to change. Do you have a lit MIL?

Do a compression test. Often the exhaust valves burn out on the K series engine. That was the reason I got mine as the previous owner didn't want to spend any money on it!

Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Engine warning lamp.
If the light is lit of flashing, it indicates the engine ECU has logged the fault. Getting the codes read will give you an idea what is up.

Do a compression test as ZDomZ says they do burn the exhaust valves . If its present throughout the rev range and is a bad misfire this is probably what it is as you have just about changed everything else. If it is burnt valve then don't skimp and just change the burnt one change them all while the head is off.

as others have said do a compression test i had a valve go on a 1.8i in another car not sure if it was that that gave the main problem but i found this in the same cylinder worst case scenario

good side

bad side after i had cleaned it up

again it was dead easy to replace the liner and piston 2nd hand
car runs like a kitten now
